ELIDA, Ohio (WLIO) — Elida wasted no time making a statement in its season opener, cruising past Leipsic in run-rule fashion at Ed Sandy Field.
The Bulldogs struck early and kept the pressure on throughout the game.
In the second inning, Elida broke things open. With two runners on, Ben Adcock delivered a fly ball into center field that dropped in for a two-run single, extending the lead to 3-0.
The Bulldogs added another run in the frame thanks to heads-up baserunning from Gabe Miley, who slid home safely to make it 4-0.
Elida kept rolling in the fourth inning. Jonan Snyder ripped a base hit through the infield, bringing Miley home once again to push the lead further.
Moments later, Colton Graham added to the offensive outburst with a two-run hit down the right field line.
The Bulldogs’ bats stayed hot as they pulled away for a 12-2 victory in six innings to open the season.
