COLUMBUS GROVE, Ohio (WLIO) — High school baseball is officially back in West Central Ohio, and a strong pitching performance helped Ottawa-Glandorf start the season on the right note.

The Titans spoiled Columbus Grove’s debut on its new field, using timely hitting and solid defense to secure a 3-0 shutout victory.

Ottawa-Glandorf got on the board early and added to its lead in the third inning. Haiden Aldrich delivered a base hit into center field, bringing home Mason Trombley to make it a two-run advantage.

On the mound, Carson Yaeger set the tone. The southpaw struck out five batters across five innings of work, keeping the Bulldogs off balance throughout the game.

The Titans added another run in the fourth after a defensive miscue allowed Jordan Schumaker to score, extending the lead to three.

Columbus Grove had its chances, including a highlight-reel grab from Jacob Ricker in left field, but couldn’t generate any offense.

Ottawa-Glandorf’s defense aided the shutout with a key double play, as Aldrich made a diving catch and fired to first to end the threat.

The Titans open their season with a 3-0 win, while the Bulldogs will look to bounce back after falling in their first game on the new turf.
