Thirty-seven students from 11 Allen County schools graduated from the Allen Lima Leadership Youth Program after completing projects focused on important community issues. The winning team earned a $1,500 grant to promote safe driving awareness through the “Road Club” app aimed at reducing distracted driving.

The Bath High School Interact Club logged more than 1,800 volunteer hours this year while supporting numerous community events. Members were recognized for their service, with three seniors receiving scholarships for their leadership and dedication.

Shawnee High School students recorded more than 1,700 acts of kindness as part of a regional school challenge. The initiative, created by a Lima resident, is now expanding as students challenge other districts to participate.

Local students are ending a yearlong mentorship program with strong relationships built through weekly meetings and shared activities. Organizers say the bonds formed through Big Brothers Big Sisters will have a lasting impact on both the mentors and younger students.
