LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Students at Lima City Schools came together to propose a new dress code, as well as hearing the community's input.
Currently, the dress code at the Lima City Schools district are uniforms, but many students stepped up and spoke about why they should expand clothing requirements. They argued that the current uniforms are uncomfortable as well as expensive. Community members, teachers, parents, and students attended the meeting to bring their input on the topic, and the students proposing the idea received lots of feedback on their new dress code.
"I would like to see the Lima City School kids look presentable, not just in school but in the community. And also, I believe having a nice dress code will prepare them for the future. For jobs, you know, for interviews, and so I just really want them to have some type of standard they can adhere to," says Ann Miles, a community member.
"I present to the board on Monday with all of the data we got from our surveys. And in May, we'll vote and hopefully we'll get rid of our uniforms," says Angela Fronzaglia, a junior at Lima Senior.
By having this open discussion with the community, students at Lima City who are opposed to the current dress code can hear feedback and together create the best possible outcome for the school district.
