December 10, 2024, Press Release from the Ohio Department of Public Safety: COLUMBUS — The Ohio Traffic Safety Office (OTSO) is partnering with AAA Northeast and Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) to implement a program to educate high school students about the risks of underage cannabis/marijuana use while driving. “Shifting Gears: The Blunt Truth About Marijuana & Driving” uses science-based information to explain the physical and cognitive processes that are affected by cannabis and how those effects can impact the ability to drive safely.

Last week was the start of “100 deadliest days” for teen drivers and AAA warns that it could be an even deadlier year with the combination of certain factors in place this summer. 

The 100 deadliest days started memorial day and ends labor day, when the number of fatal crashes involving teen drivers historically rises. This year, the combination of schools being closed, activities and summer jobs canceled, and the covid restrictions being lifted, it could make for an even worse outcome.
