Crossroads Crisis Center honors the victims of domestic violence during their 25th annual tree planting. The tree was planted at the Moyer Nature Center in the nature preserve at Bluffton University, which is the first tree planting that has happened outside of the Lima area. The tree symbolizes the lives that continue to grow after domestic violence, and it is planted in memory of victims that died and in honor of survivors of abusive relationships.

The Putnam County Office of Public Safety opened two cooling stations for residents at Trinity United Methodist Church in Ottawa and Kalida Church in Kalida to beat the heat from 3 to 9 pm on Tuesday. With an Excessive Heat Warning in effect across the region with many residents without power, the dangerous heat index values hamper the body's ability to cool through sweating, and the need to open cooling centers was high.

The Lima Beane Chorus performed at the Trinity United Methodist Church tonight as part of the Ronald W. Richards Concert Series. 

The singers dazzled in their red jackets on the stage of the church as they belted out the notes of classic barbershop tunes. They were performing a concert for the Ronald W. Richard Concert series that raises money for the Kiwanis Young Musicians Scholarship Fund. The chorus is happy to be a part of a community where music is still valued and they have many chances to perform.

A local prison ministry is looking for volunteers to help transform lives. The Kairos Ministry has been visiting the Lima Corrections facility for the past 6 years with weekend prayer retreats and weekly prayer groups. The ministry has been making a difference with inmates as many who are released return to be a part of the Kairos ministry team. The program works thanks to volunteers who give of their time in many ways to nurture a Christian community inside the prison walls.
