The annual State of Auglaize County address was pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic. None the less there’s plenty the area is preparing for.

The county is wrapping up the long awaited renovation to the Neil Armstrong Airport. The last of the furniture is going into the terminal this week. An open house is expected in the spring.

"It’s a project we’ve been working on for a long time," said John Bergman, Auglaize County Commissioner. "And it’s come to fruition. It’s a nice addition to the county. It’s the gateway to the word from Auglaize County. And a gateway from the world back into Auglaize County."

With general guidelines for re-opening schools given by Gov. Mike DeWine, local schools are working to create a plan to welcome students and staff safely this fall. Wapakoneta City Schools superintendent Aaron Rex says that schools throughout Auglaize County have been talking about some of the safety guidelines that they would like to carry out this fall.

Public officials from three different government agencies in Auglaize County came together to look at what's next. Our Eran Hami was there. A time for reflection and looking forward is what the state of the city, county, and schools were all about on Thursday. The Wapakoneta Chamber of Commerce hosted the event to promote communication in the community, specifically addresses from the City of Wapakoneta, Auglaize County, and Wapakoneta schools.

After a nine-month renovation, a new local shooting center will soon be opening its doors to the public.

Midwest shooting center in Cridersville will officially be open for the public next Saturday for its grand opening.
