Construction season will be starting early in downtown Lima as phase two of the streetscape improvement project is set to begin. Truck detour signs will be going up in early February for Central Avenue between Elm Street and Wayne Street. The contractor will begin installing the new storm sewer during the winter, and in the spring work on new sidewalks, street lighting, crosswalks, and more will begin.

The Lima Police Department captured a wanted criminal following a standoff. As of 10:30 PM Tuesday, we learned that the suspect who surrendered is 32-year old Demarcus Williams from Tennessee.

The city's contractor has been working on Wayne Street, from Central Avenue to Cole Street, laying out the new pavement markers and installing the new signage. Signs that will alert drivers to the new traffic pattern will be unveiled on Tuesday and the permanent pavement markers will go down on Wednesday.

Lima City Council voted on a number of issues at tonight's(11/4/19) city council meeting. Council has approved of increasing the funding for reconstruction on the Pine Street Bridge. Council also voted to approve of an agreement with the contracting group RB Jergens Contractors to turn Wayne Street into a two-way street. The conversion into a two-way street is part of an initiative to turn one-way streets in Lima into two-way streets to make them safer.
