BATH TOWNSHIP — Bath’s volleyball team made history Thursday night, sweeping Van Wert 3-0 to claim its first sectional championship since 2007.
The Wildkittens came out strong in the opening set, led by junior Taylor Conrad’s deep-corner attack to take a 6-4 lead. Ella Mauk added an ace to extend the advantage, and Aaliyah Young powered home a shot just inside the line to keep the momentum rolling.
Van Wert’s Flannery Foster provided a spark with a clever play at the net, but Bath dominated the rest of the way, cruising to a 25-13 first set and never looking back.
Bath sealed the sweep to advance to the district round, where it will face Wauseon on Tuesday in Miller City.
