CELINA, Ohio (WLIO) — Trevick Bertke scored 26 points as Shawnee remained unbeaten in Western Buckeye League play, pulling away for a 64-44 victory over Celina on the road Friday night.
Shawnee took control early and never looked back, building a 34-15 halftime lead behind efficient shooting and strong defensive pressure.
Luke Marshall helped set the tone with a steady mid-range jumper early in the second half as the Indians continued to extend the margin.
Celina, which entered the night 1-2 in the WBL and seeking a series upset after losing 10 straight to Shawnee, struggled to generate consistent offense.
Caleb Schlater led the Bulldogs with 14 points, creating space for his shot and knocking down several key baskets to keep the hosts within reach.
Cam Baker orchestrated the Shawnee offense throughout the night, finding Bertke for a key 3-pointer from the top of the key during a decisive second-half run.
Bertke’s outside shooting and ability to finish in transition helped the Indians maintain separation.
The Bulldogs showed flashes of resilience, including an unconventional basket from Cohen Harter that briefly energized the Celina crowd, but Shawnee continued to answer with timely shots and disciplined defense.
With the win, Shawnee stayed perfect in WBL play and extended its winning streak in the series, while Celina dropped to 1-3 in conference action.
