ELIDA, Ohio — Elida climbed back to .500 on the season with a strong home performance, pulling away early to defeat Van Wert 41-25 in Western Buckeye League action at the Elida Fieldhouse.

Shae Rager opened the scoring for the Bulldogs, finishing through contact over two defenders in the paint. Van Wert answered later in the first quarter when Katie Deamicis connected from long range to pull the Cougars within reach.

Elida responded quickly behind Claire Dingledine, who created space off the dribble for a mid-range bucket before setting up senior Emma Mitchell for a smooth fallaway jumper that helped build a 14-3 lead.

The Bulldogs continued to control the pace into the second quarter. Lilly Sifrit’s work on the offensive glass added to the momentum as Elida stretched the margin and kept Van Wert from mounting a run.

Elida closed out the night with steady defense and timely scoring to secure a 41-25 victory and move to 3–3 on the season.
