DELPHOS — Jefferson opened its season with a strong statement, rolling past St. John’s 54-30 in the annual Battle of Delphos.
The Wildcats built a double-digit lead in the second quarter, starting with Audrey Violet’s finish inside to push the margin to 23-10. Moments later, Libby Wallace buried a baseline jumper to stretch the advantage to 15.
Claire Brinkman added to the surge, knocking down a three as part of her 14-point effort. Late in the half, Wallace continued her standout night with a putback three-pointer sequence — grabbing her own rebound after a miss from beyond the arc — to extend the lead to 18.
Just before halftime, Wallace powered through contact for a three-point play, finishing with a game-high 22 points.
Jefferson maintained control throughout the second half and closed out the 54-30 victory.
