Here are some of the programs and events being offered by the Johnny Appleseed Park District to cap off the month of June!
AMPHITHEATER PROGRAM
On Sat., June 27, at 7:00 p.m., THE JOHNNY APPLESEED PARK DISTRICT will host the 60’s SURVIVOR BAND at the OTTAWA METRO PARK AMPHITHEATER (2632 Ada Rd., Lima, OH).
We invite you to join us as we celebrate some classics from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s performed by the 60’s Survivor Band. What better way to celebrate Summer than with live, fun, tunes to get you moving! For information on this and other programs, contact the Park office at 419-221-1232.
HOWL@ THE MOON: STRAWBERRY MOON
On Mon., June 29 at 9:00 p.m. The JOHNNY APPLESEED PARK DISTRICT will offer HOWL @ THE MOON: STRAWBERRY MOON at KENDRICK WOOD – HICKORY SHELTER (971 N. Defiance Trail, Spencerville, OH. 45887).
Across time, people all over the world have utilized the moon to track the seasons. Giving each full moon a special name was one way to honor nature’s signs and traditions. Experience the outdoors under the light of the full moon and learn about the names and folklore associated with June’s full moon.

IMAGINATURE PLAYGROUP
On Tues., June 30 at 10:00 a.m. OR 1:00 p.m., THE JOHNNY APPLESEED METROPOLITAN PARK DISTRICT will offer IMAGINATURE PLAYGROUP at HERMON WOODLANDS METRO PARK (485 N. Wapak Rd., Elida, OH).
Come play with us at the Hermon Woodlands Imaginature Playscape! Join a Naturalist at the West Shelter for a mini program, then spend the rest of the time playing and exploring in the playscape and creek. Feel free to pack a picnic lunch and extra shoes and/or clothes for the ride home!

KAYAKING 101
The Johnny Appleseed Park District is offering KAYAKING 101 at OTTAWA METRO PARK – LIMA LAKE (2632 Ada Rd., Lima, OH) for ages 18 and older. Program dates and times are Wed., July 1 at 9am OR 10:30am.
Join us on the water at Lima Lake and learn the basics of kayaking! In our program, participants will learn from certified instructors how to safely and effectively launch and paddle a kayak. Instruction will be provided on parts of boat, proper safety gear and how to get out on the water. No prior experience is required. Reminder to wear sunscreen, sun-protective clothing including a hat and sunglasses. Also closed-toe shoes are required and wear items the you don’t mind getting wet.
