OTTOVILLE, Ohio (WLIO) — Brooklyn Koester scored a game-high 27 points to lead Ottoville to a 63-22 win over Jefferson on Saturday in a cross-town girls basketball matchup.
Ottoville wasted little time getting on the board as Koester opened the scoring with a pull-up jumper from 10 feet off the opening tip.
Jefferson answered briefly when Claire Brinkman knocked down a 3-pointer on the other end.
That basket proved to be short-lived momentum for the Lady Wildcats.
Ottoville responded with a dominant 21-point run, sparked by Koester’s scoring touch. The junior guard scored 20 of her points in the first half, beginning with a layup and capped by a step-back 3-pointer that pushed the Lady Green firmly in control.
Jefferson was able to halt the run when Claire Stokes drove the baseline and finished at the rim, but Ottoville continued to control the game on both ends of the floor.
The Lady Green added to the highlight reel late, as Jenna Suever saved a loose ball and dished to Kate Turnwald for a smooth finish in the lane.
With the win, Ottoville improved to 14-4 on the season, while Jefferson fell to 7-9.
