LIMA, Ohio — One night after a jaw-dropping 13-run ninth inning, the Lima Locos made sure there’d be no need for late drama.

The Locos overwhelmed Grand Lake 14-2 on Thursday night at Simmons Field, securing a series sweep over their Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League rivals. Purdue senior Nick Kolze took full advantage of early run support, striking out five and allowing just one hit over five scoreless innings.

Lima led 3-0 entering the third inning and then unloaded offensively. With the bases loaded, David Falloon ripped a liner down the line to plate two, part of his four-RBI night. Reese Borho added a chopper up the middle to make it 9-0 before the Mariners recorded an out in the inning.

The barrage continued in the fourth, with Falloon striking again to stretch the lead to 11-0.

Lima never let up. The Locos scored in five of the seven innings, closing it out via run-rule for a 14-2 final.
