COLDWATER — Shawnee continued its recent success against Coldwater on Friday night, earning a 58-42 boys basketball win in MAC country.
The Indians entered the matchup at 6-2 and extended their dominance in the series, having won 10 of the last 11 meetings against the Cavaliers. Coldwater, coming in at 2-3, struck first in the opening quarter when Zach Pohlman knocked down a three-pointer to give the Cavs an early lead.
Shawnee responded later in the quarter with Luke Marshall drilling a long-range three to swing the momentum. The Indians then leaned on ball movement and inside finishing, highlighted by a dunk from Trevick Bertke, who scored 16 points on the night.
Coldwater briefly halted a Shawnee run when Josh Schroer connected from beyond the arc, but the Indians kept adding on. Cam Barker cleaned up a rebound for a basket, and Beckett Bertke, a University of Findlay commit, finished strong around the rim after a miss. Bertke totaled 14 points in the win.
Shawnee pulled away down the stretch to secure the 58-42 victory.
