Van Wert rally falls short as Jonathan Alder pulls away in regional semifinal

BOWLING GREEN (WLIO) — Van Wert’s postseason run ended with a 63-45 loss to Jonathan Alder in a Division IV regional semifinal at the Stroh Center.
The Cougars struggled early and trailed 31-18 at halftime despite a late three-pointer from Griffin McCracken. Xavier Kelly led Van Wert with 11 points, while Zach Crummey added 10 inside.
Van Wert cut the deficit to single digits in the third quarter after a three-pointer from Keaton Welch made it 41-34, but Jonathan Alder pulled away in the fourth to secure the win.
The loss ends Van Wert’s season at 19-7.
