WAPAKONETA, Ohio (WLIO) — A tightly contested Western Buckeye League matchup lived up to the spotlight Friday night as Wapakoneta held off Ottawa-Glandorf, 47-45, at Wapakoneta Gymnasium.

Both teams entered the night unbeaten in WBL play, and neither side blinked in a game that featured multiple momentum swings. Ottawa-Glandorf carried a slim 19-16 lead into halftime after Jordan Schumaker knocked down a jumper just before the break.

Wapakoneta responded in the second half behind a balanced offensive attack and strong interior play. Senior Brody Fortman led all scorers with 22 points, using his size and touch around the rim to keep the Redskins within striking distance. Ryan Richardson added 10 points, including a key three-pointer that helped swing momentum back toward the home side.

The Redskins took control late in the third quarter as Caleb Moyer finished strong at the rim, giving Wapakoneta a 32-25 advantage heading into the fourth. Ottawa-Glandorf made one final push, cutting the deficit to four after Landon Pester converted an and-one opportunity.

In the closing moments, Wapakoneta sealed the win with strong execution, highlighted by a tough finish from Elliot Block inside. The Redskins improved to 3-0 in WBL play, while Ottawa-Glandorf suffered its first conference loss of the season.
