318 Restaurant and Bar open for business

A new business has opened up shop in downtown Lima.

After six months of hard work and renovations, former city councilman Ray Magnus and 2nd Ward Councilman Sam McLean are ready to give the public a more modern and diverse experience at the new 318 Restaurant and Bar.

"We just want to see Lima move forward and go into the 21st century," says Magnus. "That's why we bough this building, why we came in here and spent all this time and money on developing it, and retro-fitting this place to make it a nice place where people can come to and enjoy themselves."

Magnus says the idea is to make 318 a place people can come for a drink or with their families, and even to catch live bands and DJs and hopefully, some comedy acts as well. He says there is not really another space like it in downtown Lima and hopes that it will be a draw to bring more foot traffic to the area.

"This is a venue that will draw people downtown and hopefully it will spur other people to want to invest in downtown Lima so we can get the city even more vibrant like it used to be," says Magnus.

According to Jed Metzger, President and CEO of the Lima/Allen Chamber of Commerce, bringing in more diverse types of businesses like 318 is exactly the way to grow our area.

"If we're going to grow our community, grow the greater Lima Region, this is how we do it," says Metzger. "These gentlemen have invested a lot of resources to make this a very, very special place. A very nice place, very comfortable place for people to come and visit, to eat, to have a drink or two and maybe even enjoy a football game."
