LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The largest student art show in the region opens Friday at Artspace/Lima, highlighting high school artists from across the area. The 38th Kewpee High School Invitational Exhibit features 195 juried pieces out of 400 submissions from 24 regional schools, marking the first time many students have had their work displayed in a professional gallery.
Sally Windle, executive director of Artspace/Lima, said having work selected for the show is a major accomplishment for the students. “These will be presented like we would any other piece of artwork. But also to get their work from their teachers to Artspace is the first prize, because they were selected out of all their schools. And then to go to Artspace and have it juried and get in the show is really just one of the highlights for a lot of our high school artists,” she said.
The exhibit’s opening reception is Friday, March 20, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., where award winners will be announced. The show will remain on display through April 11 during regular Artspace hours.
