Several local fire departments received new tools Wednesday morning to help out families' furry friends when there's a fire.
A Lotta Love Pet Rescue recently held a fundraiser by raffling off a blanket, the money raised went towards new pet oxygen masks to help pets that have inhaled smoke when in a fire. The rescue was at the Perry Volunteer Fire Department to hand off the donation to not only Perry but other local departments, as well as handing off the blanket to the raffle winner. The rescue says that they managed to raise quite a bit for the kits.
"We’re going to get the kits for them because we want them on the trucks - we know it’s a piece of equipment that usually isn’t in the budget, but we know it will be used, we got almost $600 and we purchased six kits," said Sandy McVeigh, founder of A Lotta Love Pet Rescue.
The group Allicats also raised money for a kit for the Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department. A Lotta Love says that their next fundraising project will be for K-9 Unit first aid kits.
