LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Members of American Legion Post 96 are continuing a long-standing tradition of spreading Christmas cheer to local children through their annual Children’s Christmas Party.

For more than 20 years, veterans, Legion members and the auxiliary have hosted the event to support families in the community. With help from local businesses, more than 100 families received presents this year, and several children had the opportunity to take home one of dozens of bicycles raffled off during the celebration.

Families also enjoyed activities and food throughout the event. Post 96 members say they are grateful to continue providing a Merry Christmas for local children and families.

“It just shows the unity of the American Legion and how we're able to pull together in today's times and everything going on, to still celebrate and be there for one another,” says Jatavia Brewer, Bar Maid and American Legion Auxiliary.

Fundraising for the party takes place year-round through pork rind sales and raffles, helping ensure the event can continue to bring holiday joy to local children.
