LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — ArtSpace/Lima took its programming on the road Thursday, bringing hands-on art activities to participants in the City of Lima's Summer Parks Program.
Children spent time creating magic wands using sparkles, ribbons, markers and a variety of other craft materials as part of the organization's weekly summer art classes.
Representatives from ArtSpace/Lima visit each park site every week, introducing a different art project for children to explore. The outreach program is designed to encourage creativity, imagination and self-expression while giving children an opportunity to simply have fun.
"We would like to teach them just how to use their creative minds to play make-believe and just to have fun with the arts," said Josephine Williams of ArtSpace/Lima. "So a lot of these, like we don't give them any instructions for how to create their magic wands. We just give them the materials and then they kind of make whatever pops into their head. So it's pretty great."
ArtSpace/Lima also offers a variety of classes for both children and adults at its downtown facility, covering several artistic mediums throughout the year. More information about available classes and programs can be found on the ArtSpace/Lima's website.
