LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - A banner of the U.S. Constitution is travelling across America and is making a pit stop in Lima for residents to sign.

As a part of honoring Memorial Day, the "We the People Preamble” has 3 large Constitutions traveling throughout the country and one of them is stopping in Lima for locals to read and sign as a part of expressing their freedom. Families are encouraged to stop by and educate their children on the importance of Memorial Day, as well as America’s founding documents.

"We are the longest living democracy in the world. No other democracy has survived this long. And, it's so important to us that we maintain our freedoms. So, we want people to have an opportunity, not only to celebrate the 250th anniversary, but, to look to the future of using that document to guide us all, so we continue to have a democracy," says Rochelle Twining, Chair of the Allen County Democratic Party.

The signed banner will be on display in Washington DC on July 4th.

May 25th at Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center from 10 AM to 3 PM.
