LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Learning how they can help is one of the main goals of the Lima Memorial Foundation Emerging Philanthropists group.
The group heard about “Spread the Love,” a local ministry providing after-school meals to Lima children. The organization is better known as the “Peanut Butter and Jelly” people. Volunteers make and deliver peanut butter and jelly meals to food-insecure areas throughout town. The philanthropists made a monetary donation in support of Spread the Love.
“We look to see what needs we can fulfill, whether it's fundraising, look for supplies they need. We try to bring awareness and look for ways to fulfill their needs,” said Ann Welly, chair of Emerging Philanthropists.
Welly said the group plans to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the ministry in honor of National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day in early April.
