WESTMINSTER, Ohio (WLIO) – Good music and powerful messages filled the air during the annual Music in the Park festival in Westminster.

The free gospel music event began 23 years ago as a small concert and has since grown into a celebration that draws hundreds of Christian music fans each year. Thanks to numerous sponsors, the event featured performances by Dove Award-winning band Sidewalk Prophets, gospel family group The Chitans, and other artists who shared how their music ministries reflect their faith. Regardless of denomination, the uplifting atmosphere throughout Sunday afternoon gave attendees a chance to connect spiritually through music.

Faith, family, and harmony take center stage at Music in the Park

“We've accomplished a lot. What rewards me more than anything else is when I see the prayer tent and people are over there, and they're receiving a prayer and a blessing and concerns their life, because people are living through tough times right now, and this is an opportunity to for each of us to share their load and be with them during these times,” said Doug Stemmel, organizer of Music in the Park.

In addition to live music, the event included children’s activities and a car show. Music in the Park is held annually on the last Sunday in July.
