LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Mercy Health-Saint Rita's has recently awarded funding to Habitat for Humanity Lima to support roof repairs on homes in Census Tract 129.

Habitat for Humanity Lima operates a program called "Shingles of Hope," which allows homeowners to apply for assistance with roof repairs. Mercy Health Saint Rita's has donated $30,000 specifically to fund roof repairs for homes in Census Tract 129. While this grant focuses on that area, the "Shingles of Hope" program is available to any resident within Allen County.

"Our real goal is to increase homeownership by keeping people in their homes," said Caleb Farmer, associate director for Habitat for Humanity Lima. "Letting people stay in the space they have instead of facing hard choices when they can't afford necessary repairs is a critical part of our mission."

Farmer emphasized that by addressing roof repair needs, residents can focus on resolving other issues in their homes.
