LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - They have four legs and can fly high - meet the K9s in Flight, a group of dogs that can put on quite the show.
"Well, K9s in Flight is a high energy, family friendly show," said Tracy Custer, a dog trainer for K9s in Flight. "We bring out dogs from all over the place. A lot of them are rescues or rehomes, and we show case what dogs are capable of."
In addition to jumping as far as 30 feet into the water, the K9s in Flight have many other tricks up their sleeve.
"The tricks you'll see here are what we call flips; you'll see the dogs jumping off of our back, jumping over us, we have the vault, we have through the legs, different variety of frisbee throws that they catch," said Autumn Trainor, a dog trainer for K9s in Flight.
Many of the acrobatic dogs performing were once homeless, abandoned or came from a dog shelter. That is where the K9s in Flight stepped in to give these dogs a true purpose in the world.

"A lot of our dogs come from shelters and rescues," said Custer. "We also have some dogs that are rehomed from other situations where maybe they were a little too high energy for the former home, and we're able to teach them these cool tricks and give them a purpose and a job, and it helps to educate the public."
And when finally trained, these performances can be enriching for the dogs while also providing fun for all.
"Some of these dogs really thrive on having a crowd clap and cheer for them, it builds their confidence and they enjoy doing what they are doing," said Trainor. "Take Mystique - she loves to come out at the end of our show and do what we call a meet and greet, and all of the little kids and all the people get to pet her and hug her and realize that it's just good family fun."
If you want to catch these four-legged friends in action, the K9's in Flight will have shows everyday through the last day of the fair. Check the fair schedule for the times.
