LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — A Hardin County organization donated five figures in funding to the West Ohio Food Bank.

The Kenton Moose Family Center 428 presented the food bank with two checks — one totaling a little more than $9,500 and the other just over $5,000 — bringing the grand total to just under $15,000.

According to the West Ohio Food Bank, every dollar donated equates to six meals. With the Kenton Moose’s contribution, the funds raised will provide more than 89,000 meals for individuals and families in need across the region. Leaders with both organizations said the donation will have a meaningful impact on those facing food insecurity.

"Most of our money comes from our gaming, and each quarter, we have to give out so much. So we figured, the best place to do it is the food bank to help out people, and that is what the Moose is for is to helping out people," says Jerry Rodenberger, President of the Kenton Moose Family Center 428.

"These donated dollars are going to go a long way. From the Kenton Moose Lodge, that's going to be a lot of meals to go to folks who are in need and who are continuing to come to us in need because we're not seeing those numbers go down," says Jason Aldrich, Communications & Public Relations Manager, West Ohio Food Bank.

Members of the Kenton Moose Lodge also toured the West Ohio Food Bank’s Lima facility following the presentation.
