LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - The Lima Area Concert Band held their second concert of the season on Saturday. The band is comprised of 70 volunteer musicians from across northwest Ohio who all share the love of music.
Their spectacular Sousa show is comprised of exciting overtures and lighter tunes for a toe-tapping evening of Sousa marches. Some members of the band have been performing together for decades and always enjoy playing alongside one another.

"It's so satisfying to be able to be with your friends, enjoying things. I've always said musical performance is sort of the melding of soul and intellect, and I really do believe that. And through those years, we've My goodness. We've become blessed to be very good friends through our journey. And we just love doing it. We love playing for the Lima community, and we hope to be able to do it a lot more years," said Marilyn Roth-Basinger, vice president with the Lima Area Concert Band.
"Well, one, it's thrilling. Two, it's humbling, because they're all there's some good musicians that are sitting on stage there, and conductors and all the people that make it happen behind the scenes. A lot of sweat equity goes into something like this. It just doesn't happen overnight. And so, you know, we have a part to play, and that that's what we're trying to do," said Scott Rogers, euphonium soloist for Saturday's concert.
The next concert for the Lima Area Concert Band will be "Welcome to the Cabaret" on July 19 at the Civic Center.
