DELPHOS, Ohio (WLIO) — Bath extended its winning streak to nine games with a 6-4 win over St. John’s in a game resumed from April 22.
Bath struck early and carried a 2-0 lead into the third inning behind a strong start on the mound from Braylon Leach. The sophomore right-hander recorded a strikeout swinging as part of a scoreless frame.
The Wildcats added to their lead in the fourth when Daniel Cole delivered with the bases loaded, singling into left field to bring home Zach Welsch and make it a 3-0 game.
St. John’s responded in the bottom half of the inning. Jackson Wiechart came through with a base hit to center, scoring Cameron Elwer to cut into the deficit.
The Blue Jays kept chipping away as Logan Duncan followed with a single to center, allowing Drake Fittro to score and make it a one-run game. Later in the inning, a bases-loaded walk tied things up at three.
Bath turned to Karson Green out of the bullpen, and the senior delivered. Green came up with a key swinging strikeout and helped the Wildcats regain control.
The Wildcats pulled away late and secured the 6-4 win, extending their winning streak to nine games.
