LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Lima City Schools holding a once in a lifetime concert on Wednesday.
To celebrate America’s 250th year, Lima City Schools put on a concert. This program featured choir students in grades kindergarten all the way to 12th grade. Every grade and building was represented. This brought over 500 students onto the Civic Center stage at once, to sing two opening songs and a finale. The tickets were free to the public, and the show was completely sold out. From show choir tunes to patriotic salutes, each song performed represented America.
"Support the arts, support their children, come downtown, come to the Civic Center. It's important to celebrate our history and go back to our roots and remember some of the patriotic songs that do not get played anymore. And there's so much education behind these traditional patriotic songs that the kids are learning that you'd think everybody knows Yankee Doodle, you know, but they don't anymore," says Kristin Lee, director of Arts and Magnet, Lima City Schools.
By sharing this special night of American celebration, everyone left feeling a little more patriotic.
