LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Lima Councilman Derry Glenn handed out a "Beautiful Home of the Month" award to a woman in his 6th ward.
In order to bring motivation to improve his ward, Glenn created the Beautiful Home of the Month award for those who take good care of their property. This award seeks good lawn care, renovations, and cleanliness of the home. Each winner receives a sign to post outside their house. Patricia Allen is this month's winner and mentions how her front yard became a hobby.
"This has kind of become my purpose of healing myself in my healing journey. So, I just want to give God His glory and say thank you Lord for healing me and giving me all the courage, and the love to pour into my home," says Patricia Allen, Beautiful Home of the Month winner.
"We want to beautify the 6th ward. You know, this one half of the 6th ward is really nice, and we want to continue working hard at it, and that's when we came up with our Beautiful Home of the Month," says Derry Glenn, 6th ward Lima City councilman.
Glenn adds that this award not only celebrates those who put pride in their homes but raises the initiative for neighbors to do the same.
