LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The Lima Firefighters wrapped up another successful Fill the Boot campaign on Saturday.
Members of Lima Fire Department Local 334 collected donations at the intersection of Robb Avenue and West Street on Thursday, Friday and Saturday to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).
The Lima firefighters have supported the MDA for about two decades. Thanks to generous donations from drivers stopping to drop money into the boots, they are on track to meet or even surpass the record $16,000 raised last year.
“Oh, there's a lot of people that are so happy to do it. They come back a couple times, and they drop money every time. Some people look forward to it every year, and we have repeat customers, and I love it. I'm just happy that people really care about other people, and I care about other people, so that's why I'm here doing it,” said Shae Manley of Lima Fire Department Local 334.
It’s still not too late to help the Lima Firefighters support the MDA. Donations can be made online using this QR code.
