LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The Lima Memorial Hospital Auxiliary honored its members Thursday afternoon and recognized volunteers for their years of service.
Five Life Membership awards were presented to volunteers with at least 20 years and more than 400 hours of service, including a decade in active roles. The Auxiliary also announced a $100,000 donation to the Lima Memorial Foundation to support new diagnostic and imaging technology. Volunteers raise funds throughout the year through the Auxiliary Gift Shop, the Holiday Bazaar and book, candy and apparel sales.
“I just love to be around people, so I started volunteering in 2005 up in the surgery outpatient unit. We made up charts for the nurses and the doctors and helped out with folding the gowns and all that stuff … but I love being out with people,” said Linda Martz, Life Membership awardee.
“We’re recognizing our volunteers, our auxiliary people who come in every day and they provide us great service. They provide quality care, help us through the whole process. What I like about them is that they volunteer their time,” said Mike Swick, CEO of Lima Memorial Health System.
