LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The Lima Senior boys basketball team took time off the court Wednesday to brighten the day for young children in the community.
Head coach Quincey Simpson and six varsity players visited the youngsters at Trinity Center for Creative Child Care, engaging in activities ranging from basketball and tag to simply hanging out and reading books.
The Spartans also took pictures with the children and signed a basketball and T-shirts for the classes during their visit.
Community engagement is something Coach Simpson and his players take seriously, recognizing the impact it can have on young lives.

"I feel like it's important because you like go make the kids day. They know everybody and they just love to see us when we come so I think it's a blessing to able to do that. The little kids they come to the games. And when we were little we would come to the games and we would love for somebody to come do that and come spend time with us because we looked up to them," said Jekel Cotton, senior basketball player at Lima Senior High School.
Coach Q and the Spartans will return to action Saturday as they host Dayton Dunbar.
