LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The sound of music filled the halls of two local senior living facilities Thursday as members of Lima Senior High School’s Tri-M Music Honor Society delivered live performances to residents.

The performances were met with smiles and applause from residents, many of whom later spoke with the students during a post-performance visit.
The students, part of a national music education organization, showcased a range of vocal and instrumental talents in a heartwarming effort to connect with the community through music.
“So this is Tri-M Music Honor Society. Basically, it's almost like a community service organization, but kind of music-related,” said Skyler Slaise, a senior member of the group. “Today we're here at Springview, which is a nursing home, and we're just gonna be playing some music.”
In addition to Springview, the students also performed at a Wyngate Senior Living facility, offering residents a joyful break in their day.
“Being able to come out as a group and just play music for people that don't normally get to go out and experience live performances is actually really nice,” said fellow senior Rachel Fronzaglia.
The performances were met with smiles and applause from residents, many of whom later spoke with the students during a post-performance visit.
“To be out here and perform for the community is everything and more,” said senior Davyon Williamson. “We get to give back to the community and share our talents and gifts with the world. It brings our community together through music, and that is the most meaningful thing to me — and I hope it’s meaningful to the people around us.”
The Tri-M Music Honor Society at Lima Senior includes 34 student members, all of whom must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA to participate. The organization’s mission is to foster leadership through music and encourage service through performance.
For residents and students alike, the event struck a harmonious chord — a reminder of the unifying power of music across generations.
