LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — A Lima research institute is working to connect underserved communities with medical care and information about upcoming clinical trials.

NexGen Research hosted a health fair and open house, inviting the public in for free screenings, opportunities to speak with medical professionals and free health care items. Visitors could get their blood pressure and blood sugar checked, and the fair also offered a drive-thru option to make participation easier. Organizers said the event was designed to provide a comfortable and convenient way for residents to learn more about medical research and available health care opportunities.

“I’m hoping people walk away with a sense of confidence in their health and how they can manage it better and some excitement about the programs we offer and see that they can join one and make a difference in the world of better medicine,” said Nneamaka Ezema, director of clinical operations for NexGen Research.
