Ohio EPA shares compliance resources with small businesses at WCO Safety Council Meeting

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Complying with environmental regulations can be challenging, especially for small businesses.

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency stopped by the West Central Ohio Safety Council to discuss hazardous waste management and air pollution control regulations with local business leaders.

Small business owners and compliance officers may not fully understand all of the management practices and permits required for their companies. Officials with the Ohio EPA say they offer a free and confidential program designed to help small businesses understand environmental requirements and remain in compliance with state regulations.

“Well, it depends on what size facility they are and what requirements apply, but yeah, generally, we're here to provide that information, and hopefully they do have some kind of structure or outline where they can be in compliance with those regulations,” says Amber Hicks, Environmental Specialist, Ohio EPA.

Small Business Environmental Assistance Programs have offices across Ohio. More information about the program can be found at: https://epa.ohio.gov/stay-compliant/small-business-environmental-assistance-program.
