LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – Lima Buckeyes received some valuable tips on how to stay physically and mentally healthy during a health fair on Wednesday.
Students had the opportunity to visit various campus organizations and local businesses to learn about the programs and resources they offer. While students understand the importance of maintaining their physical and mental well-being, the Ohio State Lima Peer Educators are encouraging them to also focus on their financial health — a skill that could pay off in the future.
“For financial wellness, we're focusing on budgeting specifically, so kind of using templates to visually see what all goes into my expenses every month. We all work, most of us here are First Gen students, so we're working ourselves to fund that college experience,” said Emma Kelley, Buckeye First Peer Educator.

“We have holidays come around the corner, so like Christmas and Thanksgiving. So, if there's just something you want to save up for, we have little budgeting templates on our table for you to be able to help,” said Lauren Walker, Buckeye First Peer Educator.
“So, we wanted to take this month to bring awareness and light on financial wellness, because that is something that, if you didn't have your parents or someone in your life to explain and teach you the importance of how to budget and know your finances, that can be a big stressor in your life,” said Sophia Walker, Buckeye First Peer Educator.
The Buckeye First Peer Educators also hold monthly meetings to help students manage their finances and continue developing healthy financial habits.
