LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - With early fall weather setting in, many laced up their tennis shoes for a walk with nature at Hermon Woodlands Metro Park.

As part of the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District’s Parkside Pacers series, walkers and runners took to the park’s trails for some cardio exercise. In addition to supporting physical health, the peaceful setting also helped ease the mind and promote mental health self-care.

Parkside Pacers bring health and nature together at Hermon Woodlands

“Parkside Pacers lets us get outside in the sunshine, Vitamin D for our bodies. We're breathing the fresh air. We're kind of seeing the changes in the weather as well and the leaves, the plants and the animals, so it helps us on multiple fronts, physical and mental health,” says Lindsey Gallaugher, Naturalist, JAMPD.

In September and October, Johnny Appleseed Parks will host their “Walking Through Autumn” series, where walkers can join naturalists at various parks to learn about nature while staying active.
