LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – There was a lot of red, white, and blue in Faurot Park Friday afternoon—and not just from the American flags.

Around 80 vehicles rolled into the park for the annual Veterans Appreciation Car Cruise-in. Classic cars, tricked-out trucks, and a few patriotic paint jobs were all on display for the crowd. There was no cost to enter the cruise-in, but donations were welcomed. The event not only brought car enthusiasts together, but also served as a way to thank the men and women who served in the military.

Red, White, Blue—and Chrome: community gathers for Veterans Appreciation Car Cruise-in

"It's a show to honor the veterans. And if you're a veteran, you come. If you're not a veteran, you come. And you could see the people intermingling with the veterans, and everybody talking or sitting down, and you could see the people just enjoying themselves," says Andy Maravola, Veterans' Appreciation Car Cruise-in at Star Spangled Spectacular.

Trophies were awarded not only for the best cars and trucks, but also for categories like oldest veteran and most unusual vehicle.
