LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - The Lima Allen County Safe Community Coalition working together to improve the safety of Lima/Allen County roadways.
The coalition meeting for their winter partner's breakfast Thursday morning, recapping what they have done in 2025 and what they will be focusing on in 2026. They hope to expand outreach programming to senior citizens, work to increase seatbelt usage, and continue regular reviews of fatal crashes.
"We look at it from fire and EMS perspective, from law enforcement perspective, and also from like engineering perspective, looking at causes of accidents - is there anything that we could do as public safety professionals to help mitigate those risks so that accidents like that don't happen again," said Brian Anderson, EMS Trauma Outreach Admin for Mercy Health St. Rita's.
The coalition says that from January to September, there have been 10 traffic fatalities in Lima/Allen County.
