LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Task Force Lima met Thursday afternoon to discuss the future of the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center and its role in supporting the nation's defense.
The quarterly meeting brings together local government leaders, community partners, elected officials and Joint Systems Manufacturing Center representatives to share updates on production, future plans and ways the task force can continue supporting the Lima facility.
Task Force Lima was created in the 1990s during the U.S. Department of Defense's Base Realignment and Closure process to advocate for the plant and highlight its importance to the region and the nation.
"It's always nice having the leaders of the facility being able to give a community update to us, you know, on production, on what the future is, really what the facility is. The main purpose of this meeting is for us to continue to be in the know, continue to be an asset for them, and continue to be a strong local voice for the facility," said Allen County Commissioner Cory Noonan.
The task force will hold its next meeting in the fall.
