LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - A stabbing incident in Lima on Friday afternoon has turned fatal.

Man Dies Following Lima Stabbing incident

They arrived to find 47 year old Anthony Townsend suffering from a stab wound to his abdomen.

According to Lima police detectives, officers were called to 658 North Elizabeth street, just before 2:30; on reports of a stabbing victim. They arrived to find 47 year old Anthony Townsend suffering from a stab wound to his abdomen. Lima Fire paramedics transported Townsend to Mercy Health St. Ritas where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.

Detectives identified Marcus Tyson as a suspect and obtained an arrest warrant for him. Tyson was found and arrested in Adams county, Indiana just hours after the incident. PRESS RELEASE: APRIL 18, 2025

On April 18th at approximately 2:25 pm officers responded to 658 N. Elizabeth for a stabbing victim.  Upon their arrival, officers found Anthony Townsend, 47 years of age, suffering from a stab wound to his abdomen. Lima Fire Department Paramedics transported Mr. Townsend to St. Rita’s Medical Center.  Shortly after his arrival at St. Rita’s, Mr. Townsend was pronounced deceased.

Detectives were able to identify a suspect as Marcus L. Tyson.  An arrest warrant was obtained for Marcus Tyson and he was taken into custody a few hours after the incident in Adams County, Indiana.
