LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - The airport, which has previously welcomed several sitting presidents aboard Air Force One — most recently President Donald Trump in 2019 — handled the vice president's arrival with ease, thanks to its long runway that accommodates large aircraft.

The vice president’s motorcade fleet arrived a day earlier via a C-17 military transport aircraft to prepare for his transfer from the airport to the Civic Center. Allen County Airport plays a vital role in the region, not only by accommodating high-level government visits but also by supporting critical services. It facilitates the rapid transport of transplant surgeons and donor organs for time-sensitive surgeries and enables same-day business travel.
