LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — In recognition of Community Action Awareness Month, the West Ohio Community Action Partnership hosted a community resource fair in its parking lot to connect residents with local support services and organizations.
Several social service agencies attended the event to provide information on programs and services available to the community. Resources ranged from healthy lifestyle programs to senior living options. One of the newest additions to the event was the Fifth Third Financial Empowerment Mobile Unit, which offered residents the opportunity to check their credit scores and ask financial questions.
“This bus is part of our signature programming to provide financial access in communities that have been historically underserved, specifically by the financial access or financial providers,” said Hammad Siddiqi, community impact manager at Fifth Third’s Cincinnati headquarters. “What we do on the bus is we bring it to folks where they can get their credit checked. They can have access to various financial resources, like checking savings accounts, advice from our bankers who come on the bus with us, whether it be home ownership, retirement planning, will and trust planning, we're able to provide that right here as a one stop shop.”
Fifth Third has partnered with the city of Lima to help provide opportunities for residents to overcome barriers that may be limiting their success. The Financial Empowerment Mobile Bus will return to WOCAP on Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Officials encourage anyone with financial questions to stop by, and residents do not need to be a Fifth Third customer to use the services.
