Grand Lake St Marys State Park, operated by Ohio Department of Natural Resources, was the world's largest reservoir when it was completed in 1845. The region played an important role in opening the Northwest Territory as the St. Marys River was a vital link between the Great Lakes and the Ohio River. The 13,500-acre Grand Lake offers 52 miles of shoreline for boating and fishing, as well as a family campground, swimming pool, and a variety of day use activities to park visitors.
