Students from the National Honors Society at Bath teamed up with the Red Cross to host a blood drive in memory of Mariah Ross. Ross passed away last year in June. She was the food service supervisor for Bath Local Schools as well as an involved member of the Bath community.

One of the National Honors Society pillars is service, and the students at Bath want to give back to the community while also honoring the legacy that Mariah Ross created.

"She was incredibly involved in the community. She was our lunch lady here at BHS, and then I know she was involved in the music community and stuff like that. I know she was just; she lived and breathed Bath, and you know it was love. You could see her at all our events; she would do concessions and stuff like that, and everyone was really heartbroken to see her pass away, and it's something we can do in her memory is stuff like this and be closer as a community, and that's really nice. So when one person donates, it can save up to three people's lives, and you don't really think about it until it's someone close to you that's been afflicted or someone you know. And then, when that does happen, you wish, 'Oh gosh, I wish people would' and I feel like if we got more people just doing that preemptively, we would save a lot more lives, and we'd just be closer as a community as a whole," stated Michael Casey, a junior at Bath High School and National Honor Society president.

Those who donated were treated to Kewpee Hamburgers and a chocolate malt, as well as a commemorative t-shirt. The Bath blood drive usually sees about 20 donors, but this year there were over 40 donors with a waiting list to support the cause.
