St. Marys officials noticed a new algae bloom in the city's canal, and the mayor says they need to take measures to clean the waters.
Mayor Patrick McGowan says more blue green algae has developed in the waters between Chestnut Street and the canal boat. He says they've asked the state to increase water flow, but the problems persists.
McGowan says state representatives need to put forth greater efforts into cleaning the waters. McGowan says they experience the algal blooms every year, but it's usually further south.
